Dear Minister:

I am writing you today to express my concern for the safety of Enver Aydemir, who is
being unlawfully detained in a military prison. The right of a citzen to conscienciously
refuse military service is an garenteed by the International Covenant on Civil and
political rights, to which Turkey is a state party.

I urge you to release Mr. Aydemir immediately and unconditionally from detention and
ensure that he is not subjected to torture or ill-treatment. I ask that that he be
allowed an independant medical examinationa and access to any medical attention that he
may need.

Finally, I am doubly concerned about the procecution of nineteen supporters of Mr.
Aydemir. Surpressing their political speech is in direct violation of international
standards.

Thank you for your concern in this urgent matter.

Yours sincerely,

Shawn Nock
